Our Tattoo Artists

At Tattoo 34 we not only have amazing tattoo artists but amazing humans. Our tattoo artists donate their skills and time multiple days a year for fundraisers we believe in. In addition our shop donates several gift cards every year to various fundraising efforts. We believe in giving back to our community and surrounding ourselves with like-minded people.

Our shop has received multiple compliments that our space has “good energy” and “a great vibe”. We strive to keep it that way. The tattoo artists we choose to join our shop family are caring, down to earth and easy for their clients to talk to. We all want the best for each other and the best for our clients. If you come in looking for the right fit of tattoo artist for the style of tattoo you want, you will get an honest opinion of which one of our tattoo artists is the best for that tattoo.

Our tattoo artists love working together and it shows in their laughter (and instagram stories). Apologies in advance for any bad “dad jokes”. Our clients have commented that they are not only getting a great tattoo but a memorable experience. Come in a stranger, get tattooed by artists who will treat you with dignity and respect, and leave with new friends.

Click on their image/name or scroll down to find the tattoo artists info: what days they are the shop, how to contact them, bio, images and reviews. (All of the artists are responsible for scheduling and keeping their own appointments.)

This was my very first tattoo. I was nervous, and Kimber walked me through the entire process. This was also a memorial tattoo. It means a lot to me, and Kimber created it perfectly, tastefully. Thank you so very much!

Kimber and the Tattoo 34 staff are not only good artists, but good people. Absolutely loved the environment and the vibe. Looking forward to coming back for more ink!

Kimber rocks! Me and a friend came in for a pair of small tattoos from Kimber. She was more than happy to work with us on design and placement, which took us both a few tries to make up our minds. Quality work, a very light touch, and we were both very happy with our tattoos.

Excellent work by Jake Acree. 10/10. The shop vibe is excellent and Jake’s attention to detail is unbelievable. Will be returning for more ink.
— Sebastiano N. (Instagram Post)
I decided while I was in Portland visiting family I wanted another tattoo. I googled a few different places to see how welcoming they were to walk ins, and this place definitely topped the list. I walked in on a Saturday afternoon and was helped right away, Jake was my artist. He was super friendly and everyone in the shop made me feel very welcomed. I looked through his book and picked a design. He was super chill and easy to talk to which always makes getting a tattoo a bit easier. While I was getting a tattoo a young girl walked in with her friend, also without an appointment, and wanted to get her first tattoo. The female artist helping her was so nice to her &her friend, and helped her feel at ease which I thought was sweet. The location was super easy to get to, the shop was clean and the prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be coming back if I’m in the area again and recommend it to anyone.

Walked in on a whim with my 5 year old son. Clean open space shop. Friendly dog Wes Anderson greeted us. Worked with artist Doug. He took my basic idea and created exactly what I was hoping for. They were cool with my son chilling with Wes while I got this buzzed on. Great place with a friendly and professional staff. Talked about my next idea and I look forward to going back. Thank you, Doug. Good luck with your new lathe!
— Nick White (From Google Reviews)
I’ve been tattooed at several different shops and this place was the first to really impress. The customer service was great and the shop had a chill, unpretentious vibe. Tattoo shops can be kind of elitist and artists treat you like they are gracing you with their presence, but I didn’t get that vibe here. I came in as a walk-in. I’m so happy with my tattoo.
— Emily Scott (From Google Reviews)
The artists are super fun and really make you feel comfortable. Doug Lamb is super creative - I give him a simple idea and every time he comes through with a beautiful piece of art.
— Trish Montes (From Facebook Reviews)
These guys will do ya right. Very talented artists. Great crew! Thoughtful, experienced and they really listen to your ideas making them reality on the body! Love these people!

Hanam Mun is at the shop- Tuesday-Saturday

To Schedule Email: hanambookings@gmail.com

As the first born son to SongHak and PilSun, Hanam was brought into this world on an island too small to document on most maps and globes. During his early childhood years his time was spent training to quell the fearsome rage of dragon-like beasts called Shiny-Charizards. Many treacherous years had passed before he had completed his quest of beast-mastery, however, many folks say it was worth the journey, "destiny it was," some said, for now he uses his skills to pokepoke tatty zipzaps on dem mans ay skrrrpopop and a toom toom poorumpoom poom.

Toby Linwood is at the Tattoo Shop Monday-Friday

*Toby is booked until October. He might have open walk-in days between July 8th-18th for SMALL tattoos. During that time, please call the shop: 503-235-3606 to check on his availability. With the amount of interest he has for those days, I highly recommend also scheduling an appointment for October in case you don’t get in. If you wait, it might be November/December for open appointments. Thanks! - Nisha

To schedule With Toby text Nisha: 415-370-1298

Nisha, Toby’s wife and the other owner of the tattoo shop, schedules all of his tattoo appointments and is generally a much better point of contact. Please don’t ever wait for Toby to answer you ;) He does do cover up’s, custom pieces, and he is known for his script work among other things.

Toby’s workflow:

You start with a FREE quick consult, 15-30 min. (Either try your luck and head in to the shop, see if you can catch Toby, or just schedule it with Nisha).

Toby will start to draw your tattoo design when he sees your name coming up on his calendar (if' it’s not there, he won’t work on it). Appointments are often a couple months out. Toby will draw up a rough sketch if you schedule an art check (for larger or complicated projects only) and then he will draw the more detailed design close to your scheduled tattoo appointment. His favorite is drawing the "stencil" right on to your skin. If you are up for that, let him know at your consultation.

He likes the content to be fresh. I am going to be honest here, he generally runs behind. He puts a lot of care in to every piece he does and has a horrible sense of time. I try to schedule the appointments to account for this but you might need to have patience, you won’t be disappointed! - Nisha

To get him started on your project, schedule an appointment and pay the deposit (in the shop or by email- contact Nisha about an email invoice).

Tattoo Shop owners Toby Linwood and Nisha Supahan (Black & First Nations and Native American).

Richard “Toby” Linwood is a BIPOC (Black and Indigenous Person of Color) tattoo shop owner and tattoo artist at Tattoo 34 on Hawthorne Blvd. He has been tattooing since 2010. He started his tattoo career in the Bay Area and then moved with his family to continue this profession in Portland. Toby started his passion for art in Southern Oregon, as a graffiti artist when he was a teen. Between that art form and this one he has taught art to children, done graphic and interior design, painted, drew, sculpted, carved, and etched, among so many other art related endeavors. He has had his sculptures featured at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Italy, the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, the 2010 Winter Olympics in Canada, at the "Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest Award Show" and on the "Queen Latifah Show".

Toby said he enjoys tattooing because, "I love working with and creating artwork with other people. I've created artwork in many other forms but this one is more lasting and personal." Toby has done most styles of tattoos but can't choose a favorite. "Any and all" is what he likes, though the other artists have called him, "the script master of the shop" and "the cover up King". Toby stays busy between his art, his family and participating in his own, as well as his wife's tribal ceremonies. It's hard to balance it all, but Toby's passion and dedication to his art shows in every tattoo he does.

I came here for my first ever tattoos, and am so grateful to whatever forces made sure that I walked in when Toby happened to be working. These tattoos are extraordinarily important to me, and I have no doubt that Toby understood that and honors that in every tattoo he does. I feel so fortunate.
— Kunoor Ojha
I now have two pieces completed by Toby. I work as a touch/energy therapist. From my experience with my work I can vouch for Toby’s wonderful care of his clients. He is a gentle and loving spirit with an amazing ability to transform an artistic concept into a stunning and unique tattoo. His touch is caring and light and you can see his passion for his work shine. I trust his ability to craft a tattoo in the spirit of what I imagine and I would encourage you to give him as much creative freedom as you can with your piece. Every time I have given him freedom to express his artistic creativity with my tattoos he has blown my mind and left me extremely happy.
— Adam Cole
Absolutely amazing experience. Toby is a beautiful human. I will never forget this piece, the stories we shared, and we will definitely be seeing him again in the good fight!
— July Huss
I walked in hoping to get my first tattoo, and I am extremely happy to say that I did not leave disappointed. Toby first spoke to me while I babbled in my nervousness and showed him a quick sketch I’d done of an idea I’d like to have tattooed. He looked at my tattoo, listened to my idea, and hashed out more about the piece I was hoping to get. Within minutes, he had a good idea of what I’d wanted, and was willing to work on me.
Toby took my idea and did a freehand sketch before tattooing. He made sure that I was comfortable with the idea, and liked the design before he put ink in skin. I felt that he was extremely accommodating and professional throughout the process as well - he would check in to make sure that I was doing ok, and that the tattoo was looking the way I wanted it to.
The end result is stunning, and better than anything I could have hoped for. Toby executed my idea brilliantly, and boy, he knew how to draw a straight line really well! I’m especially awed at the fact that what I’d asked was an equal sign (meaning straight edges and straight lines throughout) and how he did all that freehand!
I love my tattoo, and love the fact that this shop is minority-owned and is a safe space for all. It is listed on Gay PDX’s site as one of the inclusive tattoo shops around Portland, and comes highly recommended for anyone who wants to get good tattoos while being treated fairly. I thoroughly enjoyed my experienced, and can’t wait to get another tattoo!
